Role Overview

Hashmap is expanding our Sales, Marketing, and Alliances team to support the growing market adoption of our services. Startups to the top Fortune 500 companies rely on Hashmap to help solve their biggest cloud and data challenges.


As a Regional Technical Expert (RTE), you will play a critical role in the success of Hashmap by taking on a variety of technical and business challenges that help solve specific customer problems while working with the broader Hashmap team. You will collaborate day to day with Sales, Marketing, and Delivery to help prospects, customers, partners, and the community understand the value of Hashmap and grow the company. Consider a Hashmap RTE to be much like a Solution Engineer or Sales Engineer at a software company, except you aren’t constrained by a single product or offerings from only one company.


The RTE role reports into the sales, marketing, and alliances organization and is a dynamic position requiring a candidate with more than just deep technical skills. The RTE supports business development and marketing activities, ongoing customer engagements, and partner relationships. A successful RTE will be high energy, outgoing, possess an innate curiosity about technology and be focused on the value that technology can bring.

What You Will Be Doing

As an RTE, you will have the opportunity to apply your passion for accelerating data-driven outcomes for clients and partners, work with a wide variety of the latest technologies and tools, and act as a technical pre-sales advisor for clients across industries. Your responsibilities will include:


70% Pre-Sales Marketing and Sales Engineering


  • Create quick starts, utilities, demos, POC templates, etc focused on specific business problems faced by our clients in coordination with the VP of Sales, Marketing, & Alliances

  • Coordinate with the extended sales, marketing, and delivery management team members to provide technical support for meetings, workshops, partner interactions, etc. to help our customers understand what Hashmap delivers from a technical perspective

  • Maintain a deep understanding across a range of data and cloud technologies and vendors and be able to articulate how they compare and contrast

  • Provide and present reference architectures for client and partner solutions to executives and technical stakeholders

  • Coordinate with the VP of Sales, Marketing, & Alliances

  • Drive technical content creation or other collateral for use in go to market activities - slides, blog posts, podcasts, videos, webinars, etc.


20% Customer and Partner Relationships and Technical Reputation


  • Actively participate in local and partner sponsored technical groups

  • Build relationships with current and potential customers and partners based on technical credibility

  • Work hands-on with prospects, customers, and partners to demonstrate and communicate the value of Hashmap throughout the sales cycle

  • Gather feedback on customer challenges and technology directions

  • Explore new technologies in your area of expertise and socialize your learnings to your network

  • Provide feedback to the broader Hashmap team


10% Supporting Customer Engagements


  • Support Hashmap project teams with broad technical and functional knowledge of various key technology and business platforms 

  • Review implementations to insure they comply with best practices and follow the solution architecture

  • Interact with customer technical professionals and Hashmap technology partners at selected points during a customer’s project lifecycle including providing 101-style workshops

  • Provide feedback to the Hashmap client focused team based on your interaction with the customer stakeholders and project teams

What We Expect

For the RTE role, below are the typical qualifications:


  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience working with customers in a pre-sales or post-sales technical role

  • Excellent programming skills in Python or Java with a good working knowledge of SQL

  • Understanding and experience with cloud and data architectures and solutions 

  • Knowledge of data structures and algorithms

  • Ability to creatively apply Hashmap’s 7S principles for customer and prospect business challenges 

  • Customer facing skills to effectively communicate both in person and virtually to a wide variety of technical and executive audiences across a range of mediums

  • University or college degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, statistics, or related fields, or equivalent experience.
