PROJECT MANAGER

Role Overview

Hashmap advises, architects, selects, and implements solutions for clients so that they may efficiently run their businesses, with a focus on data analytics in the Cloud. These service areas span IoT, Solution Architecture, data engineering, analytics, AI, ML, and DevOps.  

 

We are looking for a Project Manager to plan and oversee projects, both internal and external, to ensure they are completed in a timely fashion and within budget. Project managers plan and designate project resources, prepare budgets, monitor progress, and keep stakeholders informed the entire way.

 

Major Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Work with the PMO to provide project oversight

  • Work with the CTSO to establish project management templates for the organization

  • Work with the CTSO to capture project-related knowledge

  • Manage project resources in an effective and efficient manner

  • Coordinate and support the estimation, review the estimates and communicate to all the stakeholders

  • Track project costs in order to meet budget

  • Develop and manage a detailed project schedule and work plan

  • Manage delivery timelines and quality of the deliverables within the project portfolios 

  • Prepare the swimlane diagrams for the AS-IS process stages after gathering the requirements

  • Upon gathering appropriate feedback from customer and team members, prepare the use case, sequence, flow or entity diagrams as defined by the UML (unified modelling language) flows

  • Assign tasks and communicate expected deliverables

  • Provide project updates on a consistent basis to various stakeholders about strategy, adjustments, and progress

  • Manage Scrum Kanban boards for different tracks

  • Facilitate the discussion to remove the impediments using Scrum and agile methodology 

  • Application of the process frameworks to track the key performance indicators for the project and generate the management reports, dashboards and newsletters

  • Monitor progress and make adjustments as needed

  • Review the process changes, identify risks and prepare the risk mitigation plans

  • Bring unresolved issues with the client, understand stakeholder views and resolve the issues

  • Measure project performance to identify areas for improvement

  • Monitor and record the non-functional testing results

  • Document the findings, any bugs and issue resolution steps to the associated team members

Work w/ CTSO and PMO (30%):

  • Work with the PMO to provide project oversight

  • Work with the CTSO to establish project management templates for the organization

  • Work with the CTSO to capture project-related knowledge in AGILE or project planning tools e.g. JIRA

Projects - Internal & Customer Facing:

Manage & Prepare - Customer Facing (30%):

  • In reference to a cloud migration project (e.g. Teradata to Snowflake), assist the team in communicating the selected architecture for cloud which may include native or third party services from GCP, AWS or Azure e.g. Glue, Athena, Big Query, Snowflake, Databricks, dbt, etc.

  • Manage resources in an effective and efficient manner

  • Coordinate and support the estimation, review the estimates and communicate to all the stakeholders

  • Track project costs in order to meet budget

  • Track and anticipate risks in the project.

  • Develop and manage a detailed project schedule and work plan

  • Manage delivery timelines and quality of the deliverables within the project portfolios 

  • Prepare the swimlane diagrams for the AS-IS process stages after gathering the requirements

  • Prepare the business process flows, use case, sequence diagram, interactivity diagrams using UML modeling techniques using Lucidchart, MS Visio, etc.

  • Where necessary, assist the team in mapping automated v/s manual process steps on the swimlane/ flow diagram

  • Application of the process frameworks like CMMi, CSM to track the key performance indicators for the project and generate the management reports, dashboards, and newsletters

Communication & Task Management - Customer Facing (30%):

  • Assign tasks and communicate expected deliverables

  • Provide project updates on a consistent basis to various stakeholders about strategy, adjustments, and progress

  • Manage Scrum Kanban boards for different tracks

  • Facilitate the discussion to remove the impediments using Scrum and agile methodology (e.g. XP, SAFe, etc.)

  • Application of the process frameworks to track the key performance indicators for the project and generate the management reports, dashboards and newsletters

Monitor & Measure - Customer Facing (10%):

  • Monitor progress and make adjustments as needed

  • Review the process changes, identify risks and prepare the risk mitigation plans

  • Bring unresolved issues with the client, understand stakeholder views and resolve the issues

  • Measure project performance to identify areas for improvement

  • Monitor and record the non-functional testing results

  • Document the findings, any bugs and issue resolution steps to the associated team members

  • Where necessary, assist the team in preparing the test strategy to suite multiple business scenarios, oversee  functional testing and user acceptance testing for the new functionalities

  • Identify quality goals and processes with the help from team and prepare a comprehensive quality plan to ensure high-quality delivery

  • Manage delivery timelines and quality of the deliverables within the project portfolios

  • Desirable to have SCRUM, AGILE OR SAFe experience

  • Desirable to have Kanban, JIRA,  XP, or similar experience

  • Desirable to have Rose, UML modeling experience

 

Technical Skill Sets (Recommended):

  • Understanding of cloud technologies e.g. AWS, Azure, GCP

  • Understanding of data concepts including ETL, BI, Data governance and security and terminologies would be a definite asset

  • Experience with project management tools (Jira, Azure DevOps, SmartSheet, Microsoft Project, etc.)

Travel Expectations:

  • Please note that due to COVID - work is remote for most of 2021 but when work returns to normal (post-Covid) the Candidates must be available to travel up to two weeks per month on a regular basis, with occasional periods of 2 to 3 weeks per month based on specific client requirements
